Administration and Medical Direction of a Home for the Aged

Pages 183-187 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

In the days when old people were kept out of sight and out of mind in institutions amounting to little more than human storehouses, the professional qualifications of the medical directors seemed to be of no more concern than the needs of the residents themselves. We have come far in meeting these needs, but in some nursing homes the medical services fall very short of the high standards of care to which the elderly are entitled.
