Abstract
Cystic acne is a severe, mutilating form of acne vulgaris characterized by unsightly cysts that rupture onto the surface, often leaving disfiguring scars. Topical therapy in the form of lotions or steroid injections may be of help, but in more difficult cases, antibiotics, systemic steroids, gonadotropin suppression, or x-ray may be necessary.
