Abstract

Children in whom adenoidal hypertrophy is associated with either prolonged nasal obstruction, secretory otitis media, or suppurative otitis media do benefit from adenoidectomy. The indications for performing tonsillectomy are more controversial: In these children the factors of age, frequency and duration of attacks of tonsillitis are important considerations.
