Recurrent Swelling of the Parotid Gland

Abstract

The cause of recurrent parotid swelling in children is unknown; thus, control rather than cure is the objective of treatment. Essentially, the goal is to get the child to puberty with a reasonably good parotid gland. Salivary flow must be maintained at all times, and antibiotic therapy given for acute attacks.
