Abstract

Antihistamines have been used clinically for 28 years. Many investigators have experimented with the basic antihistamine molecule ethylamine to produce a variety of spin-off compounds. Yet the new drugs are not necessarily better than the old ones, for all have the same property, opposing the action of histamine. Physicians who achieve the best results usually use only a few basic antihistamines.
