Oncologic Examination of the Institutionalized Geriatric Patient

, M.D.
Pages 177-179 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Clinical examination of geriatric patients presents certain logistic problems, including transportation, patient mobility, and insufficient personnel. To overcome these problems the medical director of two homes for the aged established a program whereby a gynecologist examines female residents in their own beds. This arrangement has eliminated the risk and inconvenience of transport and has proved acceptable to the patients.
