Abstract

What an emergency medical technician (ambulance attendant) does for the critically ill or injured person at the scene and during the trip to the hospital is but an extension of the hospital's emergency services. By rights, physicians should direct these activities from the start. This they can do by taking the lead in organizing ambulance services, supervising the design and equipment of vehicles, and training personnel.
