Abstract

What appears to be furuncles of the axillae often is really suppurating hidradenitis, which is far more difficult to treat. This inflammation of the apocrine glands is usually chronic but may be acute. Lesions must be incised and drained. Systemic and topical therapy are used, and in some cases x-ray treatment and excision may be necessary.
