Abstract
The prognosis for patients with pemphigus vulgaris brightened with the introduction of steroid therapy. Then the immunosuppressive methotrexate was added to supplement the steroid therapy. However, the serious side effects of long-term use of this regimen warranted its discontinuance until the introduction of calcium leucovorin injection (folinic acid), the specific antidote for methotrexate. Now this three drug regimen has achieved control in both acute and chronic cases.
