Abstract

Improved methodology has made 24 hour urinary estrogen assays reliable and readily available for evaluation of fetoplacental function during the latter half of pregnancy. With increasing emphasis on fetal salvage and neonatology, prenatal urinary estrogen determinations become essential for management of pregnancies complicated by hypertension, chronic renal disease, and toxemia.
