Abstract
At present, tuberculosis reactivates mainly in patients who do not continue chemotherapy. This review of 29 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis reactivated after quiescence of 1 to 18 years disclosed that 20 patients had interrupted their treatment. The majority of these patients had obvious personality disorders that probably affected their acceptance of lengthy chemotherapy. Retreatment failures in the series were attributed to drug resistance and parenchymal destruction.
