First of Two Parts

Abstract

Spasticity, rigidity, or the infant's inability to nurse or swallow should make the physician suspicious of cerebral palsy. Early diagnosis and intelligence testing are important in planning a child's care. Although incurable, the disability is amenable to treatment and training. A team approach is probably the best method to evaluate the child's disability and training requirements.
