Enzymes in the Diagnosis of Kidney Disease

Abstract

The selection and interpretation of enzymes in the diagnosis of kidney disease are brought sharply into focus. The importance of meticulous collection, processing and technic to obtain valid urine enzyme activity measurements is emphasized. The finding of one or more elevated urinary enzyme activities is not diagnostically specific for a given urinary tract disease, but it is a “red flag” that should be carefully followed up.
