Abstract

Treating a badly burned child is a difficult problem in the best of medical centers. Before a physician decides to care for such a child, he should first appraise his own and his hospital's resources. If he assumes responsibility for a burn patient, he will face the problems of supporting vital functions, measuring metabolic changes, protecting against infection, promoting healing, and maintaining comfort.
