Office Treatment of Depression in Young People

, M.D.
Pages 87-89 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

The young person's tendency to fight against anxiety is a clue to depression that is often missed. In the adolescent, acting-out behavior may reflect an equivalent of depression rather than a personality disorder. If the physician anticipates this type of depression rather than waiting for the more classic symptoms, most of these patients can be helped with office therapy.
