Abstract

Understanding the geriatric patient's premorbid and current function on the mobility spectrum and analyzing his physical and social environment are essential in planning his therapy program and evaluating his degree of independence. Training, exercise, and instruction in technics and use of assistive equipment, along with modifications of social and physical environment, effect a balance between performance and environmental demands.
