Pages 163-167 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Genital prolapse is the result of damage to one or more of the three distinct levels of support of the birth canal. Successful surgical repair depends on identification of the specific site or sites of damage and proper reconstruction. The three levels of support are described and illustrated, the various combinations of damage are identified, and appropriate surgical treatment is suggested.
