Lecture 28. Electromyography

, M.D.
Pages 213-217 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

Electromyography is useful in confirming nerve damage and in differentiating among lesions in peripheral nerves, the central nervous system, and muscle. For accurate diagnosis, it should be accompanied by general physical and neurologic examinations, measurement of range of motion, and estimation of muscle strength. A physician with special training in electromyography should both perform the study and interpret it.
