Simple Splint for Finger Injuries

, M.D.
Pages 174-175 | Published online: 18 Apr 2016

Abstract

A simple, durable splint for phalangeal fractures allows movement of the adjacent digits while immobilizing the injured finger. The splint can easily be applied in five minutes. The only materials necessary are foam-backed aluminum strips, cast padding, benzoin tincture, and adhesive tape. X-rays can be taken with the splint in place, as it does not obscure bony contours.
