Herpesvirus Infections

Abstract

Disease more serious than the common herpetic vesicles has been attributed to herpes simplex virus since the advent of newer detection and classification technics. Often fatal generalized infection may develop in the neonate if the mother has primary infection and no circulating antibodies. Herpes simplex virus also has been implicated in ocular infection and meningoencephalitis.
