Clinical Aspects of the Leukocyte Antibody Reaction

Abstract

Most febrile reactions to blood transfusions are due to leukocyte antibodies. It is not yet possible to eliminate these reactions, but we can avoid repeated reactions in the same patient by using leukocyte-poor blood. Virtually every blood bank can prepare leukocyte-poor blood.
