The potent new diuretics are remarkably efficacious and easy to administer and make possible maintenance of the edema-free state in otherwise difficult cases. The efficacy and rapidity of action of these new drugs impose on the physician a greater burden of knowledge and the necessity for more sophisticated monitoring of the patient.
