Desquamative Interstitial Pneumonia

, M.D. (EDITOR)

Abstract

The pathologic features of desquamative interstitial pneumonia may be specific, but the x-ray changes are not. In most instances, a lung biopsy is essential for a definitive diagnosis. Evidence suggests that long-term prednisone therapy is effective in arresting or ameliorating the symptoms and pulmonary changes. The case of an 11 week old infant is described here; however, the disease may occur at any age.
