Abstract
A benign intrinsic or extrinsic lesion of the colon and a malignant tumor may produce identical roentgenographic pictures. A case is reported in which a functioning anastomosis between stomach and jejunum (gastrojejunostomy) produced a roentgenographic deformity of the transverse colon strongly suggesting carcinoma. Several benign conditions of the transverse colon are discussed. Differential diagnosis of an “apple core” lesion of the colon must include extrinsic compressive lesions.
