Abstract

Septic abortion is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Even though the percentage of cases progressing to septic shock is low, this turn of events is so serious that everything possible should be done to prevent it. Far more drastic treatment must be undertaken once shock occurs, and this may include hysterectomy.
