Carl Eisdorfer

This month Dr. Carl Eisdorfer of Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, joins POSTGRADUATE MEDICINE as a contributing editor and assumes responsibility for the continuing series in Problems of Aging.

At Duke, Dr. Eisdorfer is director of the Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development; professor of psychiatry and professor and head, division of medical psychology, department of psychiatry; and a lecturer in the department of psychology. He also is director of the behavioral science program at Duke University School of Medicine and program director of the Community Mental Health Program, Halifax County, North Carolina.

Dr. Eisdorfer received his M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine after being granted a Ph.D. degree in psychology from New York University. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Gerontological Society, the American Geriatrics Society, and the North Carolina Psychological Association. He also is a member of several other professional organizations. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants and has served as consultant to many committees and on several projects dealing with human development and behavior. Dr. Eisdorfer also has made a significant contribution to medical literature.
