Abstract

Both central and peripheral nervous disturbances are seen in patients with thyroid disease. The central dysfunctions include hypothyroid coma or cerebellar syndrome. Prominent among the peripheral manifestations are the eye changes in Graves' disease. Skeletal muscles are affected in a high proportion of cases of thyrotoxicosis. The carpal tunnel syndrome is common in myxedema.
