Abstract
When curettage for therapeutic abortion is not appropriate, other methods are available. If gestation is between week 16 and week 20, saline infusion is the preferred method. The greatest likelihood of success is in pregnancies close to week 20. Specific guidelines are given for inducing labor by injection of hypertonic saline solution, and indications for other methods of terminating pregnancy are discussed.
