Osteogenic Sarcoma With Pneumothorax

Abstract

Osteogenic sarcoma, a primary malignant tumor of the bone, is a painful and usually fatal disease in young persons. In the case reported here, amputation of the involved extremity was followed by development of pulmonary metastases and pneumothorax. Chemotherapy was temporarily effective in controlling growth of pulmonary metastases, indicating that perhaps this therapeutic approach should be reassessed in this highly malignant tumor.
