Abstract
Gastric diverticula are extremely rare. They are usually located at the cardioesophageal junction along the lesser curvature. Posteromedial herniation of a portion of the fundus simulating a diverticulum at the cardioesophageal junction has not been previously reported. In the patient described, this anatomic variation appeared consistently on repeated barium studies of the upper gastrointestinal tract and was found at exploratory laparotomy.
