Abstract
A patient hospitalized with shortness of breath and chronic productive cough did not improve on symptomatic management with bronchodilators and expectorants. The chest x-ray showed diffuse linear densities and a miliary pattern in both lungs. The blood differential count showed 70 to 80 percent eosinophils. After treatment with prednisone, the patient improved, and a chest x-ray taken six months later was normal.
