, M.D.
Pages 154-160 | Published online: 16 May 2016

Abstract

Keratoconjunctivitis sicca appears to be linked to autoimmunity, and is the most common ocular disorder seen in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. One of the hallmarks of this chronic eye disease is a deficiency of tears. Treatment is nonspecific. The mainstay is artificial tears, used as often as necessary and for an indefinite period.
