Abstract

Among the most common clinical disorders associated with aging is the organic brain syndrome, often caused by cerebral arteriosclerosis and primary degenerative disease of the brain. When this syndrome manifests itself in behavioral or social difficulties, institutionalization is too often the only response. Recent findings suggest that psychologic, environmental and physical factors can be manipulated in order to insure a better and longer life for these patients.
