Abstract

A two year old girl was brought to the hospital emergency room because of a fainting episode. The diagnosis was paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia, a rare and challenging therapeutic problem in young children. The treatment described in the case history demonstrates the value of lidocaine and propranolol in managing recurrent arrhythmias in pediatric patients. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of the combined use of these agents in a child so young.
