Abstract

Many patients with emotional problems do not need highly specialized therapy. They can control their distress, but it causes them discomfort which they feel can be relieved by explanation or advice. Brief supportive counseling is beneficial in these cases. It is important to approach such counseling with confidence and to offer advice in an interested manner and in understandable terms.
