Abstract
Many cases originally diagnosed as chronic ulcerative colitis have been reclassified as Crohn's disease of the colon. The clinical, radiographic and pathologic features of these two diseases often overlap, but characteristic features allow differentiation in most instances. Differential diagnosis is most helpful to the clinician in his consideration of complications, surgical management, and overall prognosis.
