Managing Delayed Puberty

, M.D.
Pages 204-209 | Published online: 16 May 2016

Abstract

When delayed puberty is simply a normal variation in overall maturation, as it usually is, time alone will often solve the problem. Key factors in assessment are bone age and growth rate. Typical cases are summarized to illustrate the management of common problems. Hormonal treatment for simple delayed puberty is seldom necessary before 14 years of age in boys or 13 years in girls.
