Abstract

Hydroxyproline is found almost exclusively in collagen, and urinary hydroxyproline is derived from the catabolism of newly synthesized or previously formed structural collagen. An elevation in urinary hydroxyproline level is most valuable in assessing disease of the bone, whether it be primary, metabolic or metastatic.
