Abstract
There is general agreement about the indications for temporary or permanent use of an artificial cardiac pacemaker. These criteria guide the physician in selecting patients for pacing therapy. He then must choose the most suitable pacemaker from the many available. The choice is based on consideration of the specifics of each case.
