Abstract
Persans who have atopic dermatitis are unhappy victims of psychologic suppression and repression whose outward calm tends to belie the emotional component of their skin disease. Psychologic support is an indispensable part of treatment. Other measures are directed toward softening the skin and combating dryness, avoiding environmental exposures that spell trouble, and relieving pruritus and promoting healing with medications. Corticosteroid creams, ointments and lotions are the mainstay of topical treatment.
