Abstract

In liver scanning, best results are achieved with the proper choice of radioactive agent, use of several scans, familiarity with conditions producing false positive scans, and consideration of the patient's clinical picture.

This article discusses the principles of liver scanning and summarizes the most common pathologic conditions affecting the liver.
