Abstract

Acute necrotizing hemorrhagic encephalopathy is a demyelinating disease with a short, fulminating clinical course and a fatal outcome. The disease is diagnosed at autopsy in most cases. The pertinent non neurologic findings which may help in making the diagnosis in life are presented. With greater understanding of the immunologic aspects of this illness, a rational therapy and a possible cure may be offered.
