An Experience in Ambulatory Medicine

, MD, MPH
Pages 225-231 | Published online: 06 Jul 2016

Abstract

Benefits to the medical resident of longitudinal training in ambulatory medicine are greater than is generally appreciated, says the author. Among gains from his year's experience as the physician for a clinic in a housing project for the elderly he cites a broader understanding of the limitations of both inpatient and outpatient care, the professional isolation that solo practitioners may feel, and the differences in priorities that physicians and patients can have.
