Abstract

The major problem in kidney transplantation continues to be the failure to prevent rejection of a sizable proportion of transplants from unrelated cadaver donors. Uncontrolled rejection is most frequent in presensitized recipients. Possible solutions include more sophisticated tissue typing and improvements in immunosuppression.
