Treatment of Overdose and Withdrawal of Abused Drugs

Abstract

Immediate therapy of drug overdose demands stabilization of respiration and circulation, and in the case of oral drugs, minimization of absorption. The physician must have a thorough knowledge of the drugs most often abused, their interaction with other agents, and the characteristic signs and symptoms of overdose and withdrawal.
