Abstract
The techniques utilized in most intrathoracic injuries are fairly simple and should be available to any physician who treats the injured. This article presents a summary of methods for diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute intrathoracic injuries. “Shock” lung, or white lung, is a late manifestation of various disease processes requiring complex treatment at a special medical facility and is therefore not included. References cited in the article will guide the reader to discussions of this syndrome.—MSR
