Emotional Accompaniments of Cardiac Surgery

Abstract

It is estimated that about half of the patients undergoing open heart surgery have psychopathologic reactions afterward. While there is still disagreement as to the incidence and seriousness of these episodes, some definite reaction patterns are discernible and organic and nonorganic causes are identifiable.
