Drug Excretion in Breast Milk

, MD
Pages 97-104 | Published online: 07 Jul 2016

Abstract

Since most drugs ingested by a nursing puerpera pass into her breast milk in some degree, the physician must be aware of the potential effects of these pharmacons on the nursling. If the mother requires prolonged medication, especially with drugs known or suspected to be dangerous, she should be advised to bottle-feed her infant.
