Abstract

A study of 1,000 consecutive patients with selected indications in a private pediatric practice showed office urine culture to be a simple, practical, and reliable means of detecting urinary tract infection in children. Negative results were as significant as the positive cultures, indicating absence of infection in many patients with cardinal symptoms of urinary tract infection.
