Abstract
In addition to measurements of pressure in the cardiac chambers and great vessels, cardiac catheterization provides for measurement of cardiac output, detection of shunts, and with injection of contrast medium, delineation of structural abnormalities. Myocardial lactate metabolism provides a means of evaluating the adequacy of coronary blood flow.
